Hello!
I am Dylan Probert.
I am deeply passionate about acting. I see acting as a way to live beyond just the one life I've been given. To step into the lives of many, many characters and in doing so experience far more than I would have any other way. Even more so I am a student for life, always wanting to learn more about everything and anything. I can find no better words to describe how that ties to my love of acting than those of my teacher, Dr. Mikell Pinkney: "Acting is the study of everything." And with each role I do I learn more, be it a doctor, a lawyer, a cancer patient, a con man. I learn not only the things they do in their life like medical knowledge, but I also strive to learn their understanding of life and the world. In doing so I add pieces to the puzzle that is my understanding of life and Humanity. It may sound convoluted, but it is my passion and life's work.
I am also just an overall creative. During covid, I dived even more into my screenwriting (including creating an independent study during my last semester) and have written two shorts and am working on a tv series and feature, all of which I hope to work on producing or having produced in the near future. I have worked in almost every field of the theatrical process: sound designer, assistant sound designer (for a show directed by Malcolm Gets), assistant lighting designer, Wardrobe Crew, Deck Crew, Assistant to the Playwrights (New Work), and Script Supervisor(New Work). I have also built and helped build many, many sets. I think to truly connect and understand the work regardless of what position you are in on the team, you can't do it well without understanding how every piece matters.
I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Florida with a heavy individual focus on film and television. I took all the classes offered focused on film as well as creating my own independent study to understand the industry even better. My passion is for film, but I stay busy working my craft in class and in theatre. After waiting out covid until the industry began to show life again, I have finally moved here to Atlanta to take my career to the next level.
On a personal level, I love sailing, board games with friends, DND, hiking, and most things in nature. I'm deeply invested in politics, today's social issues, and helping my local communities. I have recently gotten into Rock climbing. I try to keep joy and high energy in my life regardless of how hard the path ahead gets. Thank you for reading!
